Depending on the age, get them things they need, things that will help with their development

I have a 10 week old and have fortunately been given a lot of hand me down clothes, so I have been able to mainly focus on toys for her. She will be approaching teething soon-ish so have bought her a bunch of teethers. I have also bought her a sensory kit, an indoor slide, jellycat fabric books, and a ball that makes noise and jumps about in preparation for her crawling. Our first also loved a door bouncer (but we won’t need to buy that).
