Is this okay?

My daughter was born 6 weeks ago at 7lbs 9oz she was 7lbs 15oz at 2 weeks. She’s always been a sleepy baby and I’ve always felt she isn’t getting enough when breast feeding. So I started pumping to get an ounce amount. In 14 hours she has only had 8.5oz of breastmilk and to ensure she didn’t over eat because shes done this before and overate breastmilk I gave her 4oz of formula. Bring her to 12.5 ounces. She was weighed today and she was 9lbs 13oz. How to I get her to take bottles better? She will probably only have two more bottles (roughly 8oz) bringing her to the 20.5 oz before we reach where I started my 24 hours. Is she underestimated? If so what can I do?

The average weight for a girl at 6 weeks is 10.1 lbs… I wouldn’t categorize your little one as underweight. But that’s just me

What did her doctor say about her weight? My youngest was born at 36w6d at 6lbs 5oz she lost 8% of her weight in the hospital at her 1st appointment she was 5lbs 15oz at her 2nd apartment she was back to birth weight 6lbs 5.5oz then at her last appointment she was 8lbs 4.5oz shes gonna be 2 months on the 19th

@Victoria Aguilar they didnt really say anything as they just did a quick check over her at my 6 week appointment but said she gained how much they would have and she “may just be petite” idk i just don’t feel satisfied with this especially seeing that she barely taking in 21 ounces

You could go to a different pediatrician and get a second option if it'll make you feel better!

Is she following her growth curve? My first was 5lbs 12oz at birth and she was 9lbs 6oz at 2 months. Doctor wasn't worried at all as she was following her growth curve nicely and has been ever since. I believe around 20.5 oz is normal for babies at 6 weeks. I'm not sure where your worry is coming from but maybe try to explain more? It's normal for babies to be sleepy as newborns espey after eating but as always contact her doctor if you're worried... But it seems like you did and doctor thinks she's okay. So what exactly are you worried about and why do you think she's not getting enough?

My baby boy followed a similar feeding pattern to your baby in the earlier days. He'll be 2 months old next week and he's around 10 pounds (at his 1 month check up he was 9lbs and when I got on a scale with him, I was 10 pounds heavier loll) he drinks about 4oz a feed and he eats about 6-8 times a day so he's averaging between 24-32 oz now but before he was definitely only drinking like 20-24oz. It sounds like feed and weight wise she's pretty average and seems to feed well with the amount of ounces she's taking. I wouldn't be worried. She's gaining weight and seems to be holding feeds well.

Rooting can be just a reflex try brushing something along their cheeks they'll likely turn and even stick their tongues out. If your baby is chill and doesn't fuss unless they're hungry and you're feeding them then that's another sign they're fine. As long as babies are having enough wet diapers and are following their growth curve then that shows that they are eating enough, which seems to be the case for your baby. Most babies lose weight up until 4 days (ped told me cuz my son did). They're just getting rid of all that extra fluid looks like your child is maintaining their percentile for now which is around the average of all kids. Everything points to, you're doing enough for your child. Just see how the next appointment goes
