Traveling to Mexico with toddler and baby

Has anyone traveled to Mexico with their little ones? How was the trip? Are there any tips and tricks you would recommend? Anything I should pack to make the trip easier?

Thanks 🥰

Not a baby but did it last year with my toddler (3.5 yr). He loved it but he's a pretty easy going kid. My tip, for any trip:
- pack special treat for the airplane and shuttle ride
- make sure they're hydrated more so with the heat
- don't overwhelm them - my son refused to go to the kids club or kiddie pool and did not want to participate in kids activities, so we didn't push it

Everyone I know including ourselves only have wonderful things to say about Mexico, the people and the food. We are actually planning another trip to the same resort March 2025.

We took our then 2.5 year old to Cancun last year. We had a great time with our daughter, however, the first day was uncomfortable for her. Our travel was in the middle of the night in peak winter. We went from -20° to 30°. Make sure you keep your kiddos hydrated and have summer clothes easily accessible to change into before you leave the plane.

Our daughter wanted to spend the entire day in the water so it was a struggle to get her to sit down and eat. You might notice their sleep schedule being off. It will obviously be out of their regular routine and the heat exhausts kids more.

Pack some snacks that are familiar and a lot of comfortable clothes. Also, if this is the first time traveling with them, keep probiotics. The last thing you want is upset tummies on your trip.

Hope that helps!

Those are awesome tips. I really appreciate it. will they allow me to bring snack from home in the carryon? Or will they take them away at security?

@Isabelle yes! And a lot of people don't know this. Remember most airlines allow a personal bag per passenger including children. So we packed toys, activity books and snacks in our sons personal bag. We've even packed DIY lunchables. It's only an issue if you are bringing perishable food back into Canada.
