Council have turned off my gas!

Ive obviously had appointments for my gas service check but they have knocked on my flat door and not rang my buzzer ( which I can’t hear if they knock my door if I’m in the kitchen or bedrooms. So I had a note on my door Friday that if I didn’t contact them in 24 hours they would take it further. I contacted them Friday and they said it had been rebooked for the 20th. I said is it okay to put a note on there to press the buzzer as I can’t hear the door knock she said no problem that’s done. Fast forward to today and my gas has been turned off with a 7 month old at home! I rang today and they said to call back Monday. I reiterated I had a child and I need to gas on for heating as it’s going to be freezing, he also needs a bath! She just kept telling me to call back Monday. Are they even allowed to turn the gas off if there is a child in the flat. As I googled it and it says that they can turn the gas off but there are protections put in place and they can’t disconnect households gas with children under the age of 6 Has this happened to anyone else as I’m panicking now and not sure if I’ll be able to get an appointment on Monday. My boy needs a bath and needs to be warm! Thank you in advance x
