Wow
Wow what a week it’s been! Baby boy is a week old today and we’re still in hospital.
He’s been in nicu but he’s now only there for his feeding which he is doing really well with but today he was weighed to potentially come home today and he’s lost weight again … I know it’s normal for newborns to loose weight but he’s lost weight once already, went back up to birth weight, and now he’s gone back down again :(
Feel so deflated and disheartened by it today but apart from that issue he is absolutely fine so it’s just so frustrating and upsetting :( xxx
(He was 3 weeks early so this obviously does play a part in this)

Please don’t be disheartened. I know it’s frustrating. I think I was first in here to have my son 7 and a half weeks early and we spent 23 days in hospital. He was in NICU but then transferred to special care and it was purely to get him responsive feeding so he was strong enough to go home. He lost weight twice, but since we got home he has packed it on and nearly doubled his birth weight. He was 4lbs 15 at birth! Try to rest and don’t bet yourself up about it xxx
Can I ask what he was in nicu for? Both my children were 3 weeks early. Also, they have weighed more often than they would if you were ‘in the community’ so that’s a bit unfair I feel! My girl lost weight during first community weigh in and then had gained again a week later and isn’t being weighed until 2 weeks after that
I think we might have really similar situations, I gave birth to my little man on the 10th, we’re still in hospital, when he was born via cat-1 emergency c-section he was floppy and needed resuscitation, I didn’t even see him and he was rushed to intensive care and 7 hours later when I was able to walk I met my son, after being moved to special care and then discharged from the nnu altogether he’s had to have blue light therapy and now has lost 10% of his birth weight, which is the only thing stopping us from going home, he’s such a happy content baby and feeds and sleeps soundly, they’ve done extra blood tests and he isn’t being malnourished or dehydrated, he was such a big baby at 9.7lbs that should be a lot less concerning , I just want to get the fuck off this ward😅 sending love♥️

He’s been weighed today and back up to just over birth weight which was lovely to hear and the lady wasn’t concerned! He’s feeding really well now too which is great so hopefully he’ll start packing on the pounds soon xxxx
he was in for glucose levels and was on glucose drip for a few days, Jaundice which is normal and then to get him feeding properly but he’s luckily doing so much better now! But yes I think because when they’re in nicu you then monitor every single thing which actually if he didn’t go in there we’d be acting normal and not over worrying etc xxxx
