Gulping when bottle feeding

I breast feed and give my baby the odd bottle of expressed milk. I have noticed that she is making a gulping sound - she’s hasn’t made this sound before and she’s 10 weeks old any advice as she isn’t lasting long on the bottle

My boy does this as well! It’s much easier for them to get it out of a bottle which I think is why - you could try a smaller, slow flow teat size on the bottle? That worked for us for a while until he started to get frustrated with it 😂 also if you hold the bottle more horizontal, they have to try harder so can’t gulp it in quite the same way x

Thank you we use size 1 teat on the Tommee tippe bottles - I have started to hold it more horizontal than I did with her sitting in an up right position (only the past couple of times this gulping sound has started) x

I’ve found the more my boy got used to a bottle the more he started guzzling when he realised he can get it quickly. I try paced feeding but found it hard to slow him down still. I’ve just switched to Philips natural response where they only get the milk when they suck and it’s a much better pace now also it keeps the milk in the teet so you don’t need to worry about horizontal feeding adding air.

Thank you! I will look into these bottles As the TT ones do leak even if they don’t suck so I think she doesn’t time doesn’t realised then it’s a shock then she swallow it then more come out 🙈z

Sorry to jump in here, but I went on Google to look at these Phillips bottles after reading this & came across this...

@Missy-Matrix it’s to do with heating the bottles and this actually happens with a lot of plastic bottles - they aren’t the only bottle provider facing this lawsuit and also the lawsuit is for not disclosing this risk rather than the fact it happens. Luckily I don’t heat my bottles as my LO likes prefers it straight out of the fridge 🤷‍♀️

@Abi Ah ok, thank you. I've never heated a bottle, only had minimal use of any but this is good to know, I have actually bought Nano Bebe silicone bottles to be used for ebm with my little one when the time comes for me to be away from him 😂 So I'll probably ditch the other plastic ones just incase 🙈
