Babymoon in DR at 30 weeks

My boyfriend and I booked a babymoon finally - after weeks of too much work, etc. we booked on Expedia an 5-star all-inclusive in Punta Cana Dominican Republic, flying non-stop and first class. I will be 30 weeks pregnant. I was getting really excited about this trip as it’s our “last opportunity” to go before baby. I told my parents last night and my father was absolutely livid. Yelling at me that this is a terrible decision for my and the baby’s safety. Mind you… we’re adults who have traveled before… my 35 and my bf is 38. I’ve traveled solo many times before this. I feel like I’m being reprimanded like a child myself.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I’ve had a healthy pregnancy and he’s also worried about crime/general safety in the country. Getting to and from the resort to the airport… we will get a reputable private driver for. He has put the fear of god in me after we were really excited. My boyfriend is really upset about his reaction - that my Dad would think that he would put me in danger. We did a lot of research - the resort is very safe and many other women go to DR while pregnant for baby moons.

It’s usually recommended to go during the 2nd trimester

It can be risky but if you feel comfortable and healthy and the doctor gave approval it should be fine

I probably wouldn’t have booked a trip for myself at 30 weeks but it’s your life and if you feel comfortable then that’s your choice! I’m not sure what travel insurance says about holidays at different stages. I did a trip for work around 19 weeks and there was a cut off point for coverage because they don’t want to pay for your birth in another country but I assume you already researched all of that. Still I think your dad overreacted, if he’s concerned he can say that but he shouldn’t be angry at you!

I know most airlines recommend traveling internationally before 36 weeks so, while you may be cutting it close, you’re still well within range. My doctor personally asked me not to take any trips after 26 weeks but at 29 weeks, even if I were permitted, this is too late in my pregnancy for me to even attempt to enjoy a vacation. I’m glad I took my baby moons earlier in my pregnancy and was able to really enjoy myself! If you go, I hope you have fun and I’m sure everything will go just fine!

Girl if you’re doctor OK’d it then go! His opinion doesn’t matter as much as docs

I’ve come to Montego Bay at 26/27 weeks and feel absolutely fine and great. If you feel comfortable traveling and have no major diet issues then I’d recommend going. It’s been super relaxing
