Tips for getting baby to take Calpol!
My 6 month old is currently not very well and we’re having to give her Calpol. She absolutely hates it and has now started to recognise the bottle and starts crying before we even give it to her.
At the minute my husband and I are having to hold her so that the other can try and pour it in her mouth. We’ve stopped using the syringe as she HATED that and started using a spoon, it worked for a little while but now she’s livid at that too and we feel like we’re torturing her and all three of us end up covered in it!
She’s also worked out that if she blows a raspberry at the same time it comes back out 😂
We’ve tried a bottle top, she won’t take a bottle so that didn’t help and we’ve tried blowing in her face to get her to swallow too.
Any tips/tricks please?!

Maybe with full fat yoghurt if she is weaning? Mix it in a little bit x

I have always squirted it in the side of the cheek. Even if they really hate the medicine they’ve swallowed it.
If that doesn’t work try food/drink maybe mix the calpol with some of her milk
we’ve tried the side of the cheek trick too 😫 she’s a determined little lady! I’ll definitely try mixing it with some food/milk! Thank you x
I agree with this side of the cheek but far far back near where their molars would be, it’s not nice experience for baby or parents. But it’s quick and will make them feel better. ♥️
that’s exact where I do it quite far back so it’s hard for them to spit it out. 3 kids later and it hasn’t failed me 😌
With our little one (most times it works, others not so take with a pinch of salt!) if she sucks my thumb and then syringe to the back of the cheek that seems to work. Good luck! X
Putting into side of cheek tiny bit at a time then blowing on the face makes them swallow x
OMG! My tip o use is genius, measure calpol , put into a bottle teat and let baby suck on the teat. Works a dream xx
We alternate Calpol and dummy so he doesn’t spit it out
