Help - Baby waking due to gas pains

For the past 10 days or so my LO has been waking up frequently throughout the night due to gas pains. He was a pretty good sleeper before and it's killing me!😩 He cries out, is writhing about until he passes wind and then settles, sometimes goes back to sleep himself and other times needs a bit of help. His pooping throughout the day has also changed and he's basically not pooping half as much as he used to. Some days he will do a couple of small ones, other days he does nothing then seems to do it all in one go. He's EBF and I've not changed my diet at all and he's feeding is normal. I've tried massaging him to try and encourage any bowel movements or to release any gas but it doesn't seem to have any impact. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm tempted to start weaning him to see if that will help as at a loss at what else I can do.

Is he teething?? My LG is in the same boat with gas! Apparently teething can make the gas bad swallowing excess air while crying or chewing and she is EBF, try burping more often see if that helps xx

Gripe water does the trick for us xx

He might have novovirus or another virus of some kind. Or colic starting. Burp him throughout the day to see if it helps? Ours was straining like this around 2 months and we weren’t burping him or holding him upright enough. He also writhed like this with novovirus
