Just think about the surname and how does it sound phonetically, what would be the nicknames or diminutives at school. Also, how easy will be for the kid to pronounce in the country of residence or family members. Pronunciation will be so different in each case.
this is his middle name!

i love Cosmo - and it flows beautifully with Solimar and Inez as siblings! 💙

Love Heron and Cosmo

Just a heads up that Eros is the form of love associated with desire and sex in classical myth/literature. It’s never familial, parental or platonic love.

Love Eros as a middle name (or first name). Knew an acquaintance with that name (he has Italian heritage), and loved it ever since. It’s short, unique but easy to pronounce and has some fun historical roots. Definitely been on my favorite name lists as well.
Eros is also the handsome man that flies around and shoots arrows at people to make them fall in love, people mostly just know him as cupid. it can be innocent enough if you chose it to be
i wish i had spent it Ines, looking back so they’d all have S’s but i voted for cosmo too!

Oh I know, I’m a Latin teacher. It’s just that Eros/Cupid is almost never innocent in his motivations - he’s usually messing with people, being a dick, or causing people’s destruction. And he makes them fall in lust, not love - he’s all about sex and desire, not true love. If you’re going to name your kid after myth - and my kid has a classical name, so I respect it - you’ve got to know what you’re dealing with.

I think getting overly caught up in a deeeeep-dive meaning is a little silly. People’s associations with cupid is 99% positive. That’s like hating on someone naming their child Athena because she was the goddess of war, haha. I know a few people named Eros and none of them viewed their names as tied up in sex in a negative way. It’s a pretty common name in Italy and Greece.
OP I wouldn’t overthink your middle name choice, it looks great with all your selected first names.
we are aware of what we’re dealing with. we just don’t like to sexualize chikdren name meanings. we don’t take classic history sexually, it’s just classical history that involves sex. sex is all in history, i had to have sex for my kid to be here, we plan on teaching him all about this history of his name from a child appropriate standpoint point. we are also both history professors. there’s a difference to us. we’re okay with the meaning of his name. he will be our little cupid. then when he gets older if he wants to be a horny cupid he’s more then welcome to
