Hello. I bought a potty just to have it around. I do not intend to start it properly yet but want to take a relaxed approach to it. However, it was like he knew what to do and wanted to sit on it until he had done a wee or a poo. And when it was evident that it would not happen, I tried to get his nappy back on and he refused, wanting to sit on the potty... has anyone experienced this? I'm just worried nursery have started potty training without my knowledge.

He may be ready and copying if he has seen others do it ? Maybe I duno just a guess my 19 month old copy’s me and will sit on hers when I sit on the toilet
that does make sense! Hope it's just that then, thanks!

I can't imagine nursery doing that without you initiating. He's most likely seeing you and might have seen other kids in the nursery, but seems like he might be ready to go for it

I think my son has seen slightly older children being potty trained at nursery as if he sees a potty he seems to know what it’s for, but I’m pretty sure he’s never used one successfully!
