It’s legal but it feels ick. I usually say age doesn’t matter between consenting adults, but idk to each their own 🤷🏽♀️ as long as they love and respect each other, who cares?

It is legal but definitely morally wrong in my eyes. The only time that this would be viewed as illegal and someone could get in trouble, is if the woman was in a position of authority over the boy as then the boy must be over 18 (coach/teacher etc) As someone who is only about to be 20 now, it might not sound like much but there is a huge difference in who I was at 17 vs 18!? and I know that is the case for almost everyone, you can say it’s only a few months but mentally it’s big. Personally, it’s more of an icky thing for me, I definitely wouldn’t date a 17 year old (or any younger) at my age, as it feels wrong whether you’d legally get in trouble or not ❤️

Wrong

I was 17 and my husband was 20 when we met I was 16 and he was 19 🤷🏼♀️

Seems wrong.
Even if the boy was 15 and she was 18, sometimes they can be protected by the “Romeo and Juliet law”. According to google this law works in countries like Germany, Italy, Austria and Portugal. Not UK
If the age gap is no more than 4 years, they can be protected by the Romeo and Juliet law. Bad I know, but this law does exist in some places.

The law has no bearing on my opinion. Legal adults don’t need to be messing with minors.

I know a situation in real life where this has happened - they are still together years later. It is because although it is technically statutory rape, if the younger person does not want to press charges against the older person, it is very hard to get a conviction anyway as it isn’t like they will provide evidence and testify against them. So as long as the younger person is deemed to be safe, it will be dropped. I know a girl who is my age and when she was 15 got pregnant by an 18 year old, she was questioned and spoken to by the police a lot and had to speak to social etc at midwife appointments but they deemed her to be safe and she obviously didn’t want to press any charges so it was dropped. This will not be the case if there is multiple accusations of this though, as this will be taken a lot more seriously - but in a situation like this where it is a relationship and a small age gap, sometimes it is let off ❤️ I agree though that it doesn’t change the fact that its wrong to me ❤️

yup. 🤮

That's is a minor 🤢

I don’t see anything wrong with it. At 17 your in college and working and mixing with people older than you. At that age I was going into pubs and clubs. My friend is happily married to a guy who she met at 17 who she met as a friend worked in a supermarket with them and dated one of his friends. Up until a year ago you could get married at 16.

I met my husband when he was 17 and I was 19 , he told me he was the same age as myself and I never found out till like a few months in and already in love. I will say I felt repulsed with this lie as I would never date younger however he was mature for his age and tall and looked older ! I was always ID’ed and he was never. Anyways we are still together, will be celebrating 6 years married this year🤣❤️

I understand how it can be seen as wrong but if they were 23 and 26 there would be no issue.
I come from a place where that kind of relationship is quite common so maybe that’s why I don’t see it as a huge issue. If they’re both happy and consenting then I don’t see why it is anyone else’s business

I think if they knew the age beforehand, it’s really messed up. It’s like she chose to pursue a younger boy??? Seeking him out for sex?? I could probably understand if he lied about his age (and he looked older so it was believable and stopped once found out). But if she knew, I think it’s absolutely messed up to get to the point of SLEEPING WITH HIM 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

17 isn’t an adult so I’d say no lol

It's crazy i don't no.. like if they were 18 and 21 that sound better right? But it's the same age gap right? ⁹

Nothing wrong with it. Both legal age. There is 6years difference. Ive just turned 28 and my partner is nearly 22, does that make it wrong that there is 6years difference?

17 Is a child 20 adult idk if in the uk 17 isn't a minor?but in the us a 20 year old would be in jail because 17 is considered a child here

Legally being able to consent to sex does not make it a legal age. You are not legally an adult until 18.

People just need to wait until minors are legal
in the UK, 17 year olds get treated as adults.
If they committed a crime they’ll be sent to adult prison. When I was 17, I did a small crime and was put down as an “adult”
I agree that mentally a 17 year old is young. Their brains aren’t fully developed. That’s why I don’t believe that over 20s should be sleeping with under 18s. Even thought they wouldn’t be breaking the law, it’s morally bad.

Right! I think the age for a legal adult everywhere should be 20 at least
if it was the other way around, a 17 year old girl sleeping with a 20 year old man, would you still say it’s gross?

My issue is that one of the humans involved is a minor. The other one is an adult. Their sex doesn’t matter.

Legally not wrong but morally it is, I've been that 16/17yro with someone 4/5 years older than me and then I saw nothing wrong with it...
But when I hit 20 I realised I could never ever look at anyone that young in the way people have looked at me, that's a child... I'm 23 now and the thought of being with anyone a year younger than me gives me the ick I cam just about deal with being 5 months older than my current partner 🤣😅

Accidentally clicked not wrong, But Super F'n WRONG!!! 🤮
when I was 16-17, I had men who were 20+ hitting on me
Looking back now I’d get them charged with the police.
If he or she is 16/18 with a 2 year gap only it isn’t that bad
When I was 16 in college, there was an 18 year olds in my class. 2 years isn’t a major deal

18 is an adult not 17 so I would say no
