Is a bikini with a thong suitable for a family swimming pool?

I wouldn't personally wear a thong at a swimming pool or a beach. But I'm probably a prude when it comes to swimwear 😂

Personally I feel on a beach- go for it, I'd go topless too if I felt comfortable. Or round an adults pool. Round a kids pool, or a family pool/swim park- just not necessary!

Curious why though? They’re just bum cheeks, everyone has them. What about bum cheeks being slightly more on show than regular bottoms is in appropriate for kids? I’m quite body positive and unless you’re being in some other way inappropriate in front of children, I don’t think showing bums or boobs is necessarily bad.

Id say save it for somewhere else entirely 😂

I dont agree with thong bikinis for family/kids places…the amusements parks in my area always have signs by the water parks that thong bikini’s aren’t allowed.
I feel like its something you wear to be sexy..more appropriate for an adult beach/adult get together🤷🏾‍♀️

Don't care what people wear. If they are comfortable enough in their own body. Wear it.
Feel the same way for around kids too. Why is it any different?

@Ari I do agree, maybe inappropriate is the wrong word. Coz your right in what you say, it's just bum cheeks. I think it's the feeling that the wearer is wearing it to attract attention, and at a family swim place it feels... unnecessary? But then saying that I would chose to wear a bikini top that made my boobs look good rather than one that was designed for modesty. So maybe a thong is an extension of that! I did once see a young girl wearing a Victoria's secret jewelled thong bikini at Barnsley metrodome. That felt like too much!

I guess I don't care because, to me, they're just butt cheeks. There isn't anything inappropriate about them. They're just another part of the body like an arm or chest/breast. I wouldn't assume they're doing it to gain attention. Chances are they're wearing it because it feels good for them. Same as someone wearing make up to a water activity. Not my tea but do you❤️

I used to say I wouldn't mind until my sister in law showed up in short shorts and my nephew asked out loud why she was wearing underwear lol 😂 I think if there are kids I wouldn't but if all members are adults then whatever.

Unfortunately no matter what kind of bikini bottoms I wear my ass eats them so it always looks like I’m wearing a thong. I can’t help it. I’m constantly pulling wedgies 🤷‍♀️ when with family I try to cover up other parts of my body more to make up for it but I also own a ton of tiny bikinis from bartending at a beach side bikini bar. Whatever everyone is comfortable with I guess. I will say My nieces and nephews aren’t sexualizing my body so there’s not really a need to cover up to Shield the children. It’s just a body to them. Grandma on the other hand… I’m definitely covering up more so I don’t catch flack from her.

in Europe men of all ages and shapes wear speedos. It’s like regular swim wear over there and super common. Pretty much only see tourists wearing swim shorts

@Harlie growing up as a swimmer, I would consider speedos normal too. But a man in a thong I would be uncomfortable with. @Andi I think a beach is fair enough, its open to everyone, and if you weren't comfortable with what your kids are seeing its your responsibility move them away. A commercial swim park aimed at families, I think it's fair to presume people have a responsibility to dress appropriately. Its interesting to see the range of what people think is appropriate though!

I pulled it off yesterday but granted I wear a see through coverup over it so my bum is not in my kids face or other kids faces lol because that’s the height they are. But I do, yes you can see the outline of it.

Honestly no. I’m not gunna shame anybody about it, but it’s kind of just a courtesy/awareness thing. I’m definitely wearing a different bathing suit around a family place then I would a girls trip to Miami or resort with my husband….different vibes.

Maybe it was all they had to hand on short notice? But just seems a little like wearing a dress to mow the lawn, just not quite the right outfit for the occasion. Sure you can mow the lawn in a dress but it's just not what youd typically reach for first in the wardrobe 🤔🤔

I've never thought twice about it to be honest. If you can see a bit of bum cheek in normal bikini bottoms, what difference does it make if you see a bit more in a thong?
