Wakening so early!

My 8.5 month old has started wakening anywhere between 3.30am-5am. He used to sleep to 6ish but started getting earlier and earlier a few months ago. Any advice on how to get him to sleep longer? We've done earlier and later bedtimes, reduced day time naps, he's eating plenty through out the day. I've just started back to work too, so starting the day before 4am is getting really difficult.

For me it’s the constant moans and yells - after so much time being vocal she wakes. Had a lot of noise all night but from 4 it was ++ and she was awake awake again at 5. I don’t know how to get her to sleep longer. Too early a wake means 3 naps too which we stopped months ago 😝

@Hayley my boy is the same as this. Wakes in good form just chatting and singing to himself but he's up for the day. 3.50am today and was almost sleep again at 5ish but sprung back awake. So here we are since 5am downstairs. I leave for work at 7.15 and he will most likely have a sleep in the car on the way to my sisters house. I'd be tempted to go for a drive at 5am so we can both take a sleep 😂

I bought her in with me and gave her a small 3oz bottle but she’s rolling around and babbling - she’s 100% not tired ….. & I am 😔

Same over here, he’s always woke between 6-6:30am but the past 2-3 weeks it’s between 4-5:30am 🥹 he’s also started waking every 2-3 hours again. No advice sorry I just feel your pain

Mines currently 20 mins in to a second sleep in my bed - I can’t sleep tho … typical

Bringing him into my bed seems to be the only answer likes waking at 4am and won't settle but if I'm quick enough to transfer him in with us as he stirs he'll sleep another hour or 2, I can't but at least I get to chill

That’s what I did. She was awake for 39 minutes tho! She’s just had 46 minutes. 6:38 is better than what she woke up to earlier and should be ok now for her 2 cot naps today.

I had similar with my little girl, if she woke before her normal average time of 6, I would never leave her room with her. So I'd try get her back to sleep, even if it meant sitting on her rocking chair with her having quiet time. Also no matter how early she woke I would never allow her to have her first nap any early (yes it's hard work for you at the time) but I think this helped! We've been on 2 naps since 6 months I've recently changed to literally just a 20min power pram nap in the morning now and this has also helped make her wake up time become around 7 🤞

Also a long wake window after 2nd nap, I've found 4-5hours to be the best for my girl as long as she had a sleep of at least 1.5hours at lunch

@Flo this used to work and get us to around 6ish but anymore. He's just so alert when he wakens.

What time is your second nap? How many hours total sleep in the day? Should only be 2-3… my little one keeps waking between 2 and 3, but eventually goes down after an hour. Wondering if it’s separation or not enough sleep pressure before bed.

Don’t know if it would work we haven’t been able to try it yet but I’ve read if it’s possibly habit wakes going in about 15-30mins before they wake and stoke them or move them so the rose and wiggle then go back to sleep then should go back in to a deep sleep again and skip that wake up. We are thinking of trying it because we are back to wake ups every 2-3 hours sometimes it’s every hour and a half then she finally does a longer stretch 🥲 My girl seems to struggle to do longer than 10 hours a night so we have to be careful when we put her to bed which similar to some of you, is hard work when she wakes early then you are sometimes squeezing in a 3rd nap to stretch to bedtime 🙃

My LO has been waking up between 4-5am for the past 4 months, no matter what I do. Once in awhile she will sleep until 6 lol
