bedtime crying spells

My son (10 months old) has been waking up every night for the past week uncontrollably crying, he’s unsoothable, and i can’t quite figure out if he’s actually awake or not. He does not want a bottle, or his binkie. I’ve changed his diapers, I’ve stripped his clothes to see if something was bothering him. Nothing. I recently started putting him back into his sleep sack but he’s almost outgrown it so I’m thinking maybe that’s making him uncomfortable, but to the point like that? if he wakes up again I’m taking it off him to see if that’s it. I’m also thinking it could be sleep terrors, but this early? Tonight he jerked when he was crying and that was a bit alarming, he also does not respond to us or anything when he’s in these crying spells. I do think he is going through a sleep regression + growth spurt + teething, but this is INSANE. He just sobs uncontrollably so bad that he coughs and chokes. He does it two times during the night as well. I’m going to call his pediatrician tomorrow morning because I just don’t know what else to do. Anyone know anything about this?

My son had similar fits when he had his first three teeth come in .. I felt his gums to see if they were teeth and if it was I would dip my finger in Tylenol and rub a bit on the gums. I also found swaddling just my sons arms close to him helped him feel safer .

I would maybe record a video for the pediatrician. It helps to understand how severe it is if they can see it for themselves. I hope it gets better for your little guy!

I’m dealing with something similar, not sure what is going on but also just feel confused and worried. My son has gotten two teeth so far so I haven’t tried treating tooth pain.

It may be a ear infection. Does he bang or shake his head? Is he running a fever? Red cheeks? Have them check his ears. Happened with my 10 month old, and it turned out to be an ear infection.

Similar situation, he stops after I put him in bed with me, then when he’s fully asleep I transfer him back to his crib. I was thinking night terrors but he’s also teething and was battling a mild but annoying cold. Will speak with his pediatrician soon.

its probably night terrors! my baby had them around the 3-6 month mark and it would break my heart! 💔 our pediatrician said there isnt much to do but keep him safe while hes flailing about. its another one of those things you just have to let pass. ☹️
