Baby will only fall asleep being held

So I am looking to get some advice from those that are/have been in similar situations. My daughter stopped being able to self settle to sleep when she was able to stand up, we would lay her down and she would just keep standing up playing etc for way over an hour so we resorted to holding her to sleep. In the grand scheme of things it’s not a huge issue for us at the moment, however I want to understand, will she just naturally grow out of this or will we still have to do some sort of sleep training eventually? Don’t want to get to the age of 2 and still be holding her to sleep 😂 she’s already getting a bit heavy and it’s becoming a tad uncomfortable!

You can introduce other sleep associations to help the transition. So as you’re holding her, shush the whole time and pat or stroke her. Then try to put her down sooner over time and shush and pat when she’s in the cot, settling in the cot at the end. Should eventually be able to pat and shush in cot, then peel back the patting to just shushing etc xx

@Emily Ah that definitely sounds like worth a try, I think it’s just become a habit so need to ease out of it, thank you!x

Following!

We’re in the same boat. At nusery they are able to lie her down and pat her back and rub her tummy but Ive tried a few times and its like world war 3 🫠

@CeeCee they just know how to do it for others and not us 😂🤦🏻‍♀️
