Mine does this - naps for 30 mins all day when he’s used to closer to 1hr30. He has 15 mins on the way home and is always still ready for bed an hour or so later. He acts really unsettled so I can always tell he’s still tired
We have a no naps after 4pm rule, and if she's going nuts as her earlier naps were too short she can have a 15 mins power nap tops, and we wake her 4.15pm. If she sleeps past 4pm, she is not down by 7pm and her whole night is out of the window. In the summer I'll move her bedtime to 8pm, but for now - I'd recommend doing everything you can, music, noise, singing to keep your little one awake on the journey home if possible. I'd also read up about sleep pressure throughout the day. Lots of info out there. I think 30 naps at that time would affect my little ones night sleep, but I know all babies are different
@Jade I try but it’s a 30 minute journey in the dark so she falls asleep as she’s so knackered! X
This happened to us the other day and they still went down at 7:30pm and slept 11 hours. If anything made bedtime much more enjoyable as they weren’t super overtired. A 30 minute nap will only shave a very tiny bit of sleep pressure off if they have been awake pretty much the whole day. As others have said, all babies are different, you can always give it a go and see what happens.
@Siân thank you!
I'm in the same boat i work Wednesdays and pick son up at half 5 but sleeps on way home have tried everything to keep him awake but goes off for half hour. have to wake him when I get home n unfortunately bed times takes ages for him to go off 🥹😫 following for advice to xx
Could you give snacks / watch alerting on the iPad? I take my baby to work and leave at 6pm, she watches stick man or something, has toys 🧸 to play with to stay awake x
He has toys but then chucks them down the side of the seat 🙄n actually falls asleep when put dancing fruit on lol 😆 xx
My little boy is falling asleep in the car on the way home from nursery at around 5/5:15 for 15 mins ish. I’ve not found it’s affected bedtime and we’re still putting him down around 7:30. I think he’s just really tired from his day
Yeah I would think initially whilst he’s not napping well at nursery he’d still be ready for bed a few hours later. I’ve found that if he naps late as a one off of the nap is short it doesn’t really affect but if it’s too long or too late and he goes to bed at normal time he will then wake early or have split nights. But my son didn’t sleep well at nursery initially either and now sleeps great so he will hopefully get better!!
My baby wouldn’t go down at 7 if he napped that late. Lucky we walk to pick him up and keep him parent facing give a drink and snack and he stays away . Could you hive something to keep them awake zzz
