Too much day sleep

My 8.5 month old is currently having 4 hours sleep in the day which is affecting her night sleep as she’s been waking up at 5am no matter what time she goes to bed. I’m thinking I need to cut down her naps in the day to either 3 1 hour naps or 2 1.5 hour naps but I’ve read not to wake a sleeping baby and sometimes her naps are 2-2.5 hours long😩 any advice please

Mine only sleeps maximum 1.5 hours in the day 2 if I'm lucky she has 3 power naps then goes down at 6.30 wakes up between 6 and 7 x

I would go for it. I've only woke my baby on the odd occasion if we've had to leave and I couldn't just wait for her to wake. She's normally fine tbh, I just stick her on the boob and anyway she's too interested in what's going on to mind that she's been woken haha. So probably boob/bottle and then a little distraction like a toy maybe and they'd be fine. May as well try it once I suppose! I think around this age they need 2-3 hours of daytime sleep? My LO barely gets 2h most days

I wake my baby from his nap regularly. I cap all naps at 2 hours as it effects his overnight sleep and I don't let him sleep past 4pm so he's tired for bedtime. I have a 2yo too so going places with him sometimes means waking my 7mo up too. I don't do this when he's poorly though.

Thanks all I usually do wake her if I need to go somewhere and she’s a bit upset at first but then she’s fine after a few minutes so I’ll try capping her naps a certain length then hopefully she’ll get used to less sleep & sleep better during the night!
