Napping

Hey! So my 4mo has just started going down for naps on his own in his crib but they are so short! Sometimes he'll only have three a day sometimes four but they are only 30/40mins each. If we go for a walk, in the car or contact nap he can sleep longer (anywhere up to 2hrs) but if we don't go out for a day he can end up having 2hrs or less in naps. Not sure if he's getting enough sleep and wondering if I should reinstate a contact nap to 'top him up'. Just unsure what's normal for naps and wondering how everyone else is navigating this

My little guy is the same, but he sleeps through the night for 11 hours. Is he sleeping through the night ok? I find that he only stays up for an hour and a half at a time with shorter naps, so it works out OK. If I start to see him getting tired, then off to bed, he goes. As long as your little one is OK during the day, I wouldn't worry 💗

He's still wakes once a night for a feed and then he may wake one or two more times for a quick cuddle then he goes back down in 15/20mins. His wake windows are 2hrs, he can seem a tad tired sometimes though but will generally fight a nap until it gets to 2hrs. I do wonder when he will get longer stretches of sleep, I imagine it'll come as he grows older I guess

Can you tell me your method for getting him down in the crib please? I struggle to get him down at all!

I’ve started trying to get my LB to sleep in his crib for naps but same only have 30 mins ! I usually do my first nap of the day as a contact nap and the last as a ‘top up’ and at least try get over an hour for them as otherwise he gets so tired. guess it depends if your LO gets cranky and tired if only having short naps

The 30min is one sleep cycle and at this age they struggle to make the transition to the next one. It is much easier when bering Held and cuddled. You can try to be there After 25 min or so and reassure him when moving to avoid him waking up
