Is sleep regression inevitable?

I’m hearing a lot about the 3-4 month sleep regression, my boy is 13 weeks and I’m dreading it! I’m honestly hoping it doesn’t happen haha is it a thing that happens with every baby? I know it’s normal and a developmental related thing but please tell me there’s people out there that manage to get by without this becoming an thing 🥲

My little girl just turned 16w and I find her just fighting her sleep more, nothing too serious so far xx

@Aimee just to go to sleep or while she is sleeping too?

Just to go to sleep, once she’s down she’s down, she still sleeps the nights so far thankfully x

I am so anxious about this! My LG has slept through every night since 7th December! We’ve been extremely lucky. Every time someone asks their response is “Wait until 4 month sleep regression” or “Well wait until teething” every night I go to sleep thinking tonight is going to be the night it all changes, just can’t shake the feeling it’s all going to back fire on us 🫣. I still have to get up at 2 and 5 to pump as I exclusively pump but just praying she manages to keep up her good sleep habits.

The 4 month regression is inevitable for all babies as they move to more adult sleep cycles. But they're all affected differently - for some it might only be a few nights as for others it can take months to establish longer sleep stretches again. 'Everything's a phase' is the best approach! Just count yourself lucky if you've had good sleep already as a lot of mums have yet to have that!

Ours is nearly 4 months and he very quickly became really hard to get to sleep for daytime naps but is sleeping really well at night suddenly so I'm hoping this is our regression symptoms... though we do co-sleep the whole night

All babies go through this sleep development, not all start waking every 2 hours or less. Not sure if my baby is going through it yet but my first just woke in the night a little again, but she also learnt to self-settle so afterwards she slept through the whole night and has done ever since (3 now) bar the 1 year regression and if she was ill etc. Some babies naturally come out the other side self-settling so 🤞🏽 Future regressions don't affect all babies, my first child only went through 1 more even though there are a number of times sleep may regress.

Didn’t notice anything at all with my now 5 year old. She always slept well and nothing changed. Second baby is 3.5 months and currently sleeping through so praying I get lucky twice 😂🤞🏼

Sleep regression is just then learning to connect sleep cycles, babies sleep cycles untik 4m are like 45 minutes after that they become more like our sleep cycle which are 90 minutes long, some babies reallly struggle to connect then so they are waking more but some dont even notice the change, it will either slap you in the face and you'll never sleep again or everything is going to be tickety boo, don't worry too much because then you are going through it twice 😅
