Sleep

Going a little crazy… Switched from the sleep Merlin sleep suit to a sleep sack. Baby boy will roll onto his belly immediately but doesn’t know how to settle himself back to sleep. He used to sleep 7-7 no problem. But now we’re 3 days in a row of him being up every 30 minutes. I’m so sleep deprived, I’m delusional. Is this a phase? Why won’t he roll back to his back? Someone tell me this won’t be forever. How can I fix this

I’m in the same boat. She is 6 months old. I think it’s a sleep regression. Following because I don’t know either. Still in sleep suit, but just bought a kyte baby sleep sack that’ll come in soon

Can you fill me in on why people switch from sleep suit to sleep sack? We always did sleep sack when they were little and then once they rolled, we just did a sleeper or 2 sleepers if it’s cold and we’ve never had a problem with sleep with all three.

This is a phase! They go through a phase where they obsessively roll to their tummies. He will learn to fall asleep on his tummy, probably, or he'll eventually stop trying to sleep that way. I'm sorry, I don't know any way to stop it! Maybe someone else knows something you can do? But I can tell you it won't last forever, probably not even that much longer.

Outside of sleeping, like during playtime, can he normally roll back onto his back? My daughter is constantly rolling herself onto her belly throughout the night as well and then cries out. So exhausting.

@Abby we did the sleep suit with him bc he was outgrowing the swaddles/not wanting to be swaddled. But when we tried the sleep sack immediately, his startle reflex was still waking him up several times a night. We switched to the sleep suit and it was sooo much better, I think he was cozier that way. My oldest didn’t have this issue, he loved the sleep sack right away.

@Tess I was really hoping it would end quick but after the third night I’m starting to get discouraged. Thanks for your kind words!

@Nelly he can, he just doesn’t really act like he wants to. He’s trying to scoot and reach for things during the day so I don’t think he even tries now honestly

I feel like the swaddles and sleep sacks are too restricting. None of mine ever liked them. I’ve heard others say their child slept better omitting the sleep sack.

@Abby every kid is different! My oldest wore a sleep sack until he was 2. We keep our house pretty cold so this is what works for us.
