Sleeping in own room

When is everyone thinking of putting their babies in their own room if you haven't already? My little boy is 5 months on the 24th and he's getting disturbed by my partner getting up for work and thinks it's time to start the day at 5 🥱🥱not sure if putting him in his own space will help

I done it this week. LB 5 months next week and so far all have gotten a better sleep. He’s next door and the monitor is on. Glad I done it. X

@Nat I'm thinking we will all sleep better for it too. Think I might do it this weekend while my partner is off. Glad it's gone well for you ☺️x

I’m glad to see this. My LG is 5 months 26th!! And last night my partner slept downstairs as has a cough. I did cave and put her next to me in bed.. from midnight. But she was fine till then but she slept for 4/5hours solid. No dummy coming out nothing. I wondered if it was the space but also cause we’re not getting up and down.. so it makes me sad (even though she’ll be next door) but equally wondering if moving her will be best option for her and all our sleep!

It’s hard but worth it and you know it was nice having my room back and not afraid to make noise. Good luck. X

@Paige-Louise it's a really 50/50 situation as I'm going to miss him being with us in some way but do feel like its the best option for him as he'll have more room and not be disturbed by us

I feel you! As I feel so sad at even the thought, then other points I’m like it should be so good! X

@Lavinia that's my dilemma! If we go to bed at the wrong time in his sleep cycle it wakes him up x

I done it at 5 months exactly - took to her own room from day 1! Best decision as we now have our ‘adult’ space back

We haven’t done it yet but he is 6 months on Sunday so I’m thinking about it. I’m having to get up every 2 hours with him all night so I’m thinking it will make it worse for me but hoping to test if he sleeps better 🤞🏼 I may actually get some sleep eventually! But probably not, ha

@Lou that's the same for me at the minute, if he doesn't sleep any better tonight and tomorrow and I'm still getting up every 2 hours I'll bring him back in with us. Think he stirs and can see us there and wants to be cuddled instead of soothing himself back to sleep.

Yes I am thinking the same. I’ll give it a trial run but if he doesn’t improve then I will keep him in with us a bit longer as I honestly already feel like I’m running on empty. I am just hoping no noise distractions helps 🤞🏼 but he seems to take milk more in the night than the day so maybe if he wakes less and gets good chunks he will happily increase his day feeds and that will help. God I’ll take any improvement right now!

@Lou we've put him in his own room tonight so will see how he gets on. No distractions might help your little boy, they go through so many sleep cycles that if you time it wrong they can wake so easily. Definitely a good idea about the milk, he might take more during the day if he goes longer at night
