Bedtime

Has anyone done the supernanny bedtime technique of just putting them back to bed without saying anything after 3 times? Does it actually work? My two year old will not settle if we aren't in the room and has began to still wake if we are to look for us... I say us mainly me... But we need to try and brake this habit that we have gotten in to as its beginning to affect me and my husband and also how I function in the day, 😴😴😴

I usually say good night ect first time, 2nd il say in a stern voice bed time to sleep and then 3rd time I will just say bed then walk out. They do get the jist but again kids will be kids and often they will still try and take the mickey

At 2 their imagination (and fear) are just kicking in. Therefore I personally don’t think this is a great technique at all. Maybe for older kids. Each to their own though.

@Cal but then every time they call they know your going to come running and then use it to there advantage?

@Adele Wow. They’re tiny children. Not evil masterminds. They don’t even have any concept of others needs really yet. Hell they only realised at 5-8 months that objects still existed when they weren’t in sight… I think your expectations are way off. Children don’t really get that the world doesn’t revolve around them until around 4-5. You can’t force them to grasp it much earlier. Some may get it at 3 1/2, maybe.

@Cal so why does my boy cry for me then start smiling and laughing as soon as I walk through the door. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

@Adele because he’s happy you’re there?!
