Ferber method

For those who have tried Ferber, could you honestly tell me your experiences? Did you have to retrain through sleep regressions? Teething? Or has it just worked and are you all getting better nights sleep? Or did you sack it in and use a different method? With nursery approaching soon, I simply can’t see myself having the nights like we do and then having to go to work after.

@Elena did you use of for naps too?

We did it at 6mo. Went from 8-10 wake ups to 3 or less (usually 1). We still feed once overnight. Worked from night 1.

I’m keen to know too. My baby is 8 months. I tried at at 6/7 months for 2,3,4,4 minutes but she was inconsolable. She wasn’t well at the time so I felt it wasn’t the right time. We were also on holiday in the uk, she started in the travel cot but it all very quickly became full time cosleeping. Now we are back in Australia we have finally set up her nursery with a cot. I’m so nervous to try Ferber again, but I agree, I’ll be going to work in May and not sure how I will cope in the current circumstance with multiple wake ups to feed whilst she cosleeps between us. Please share if it’s worth pursuing or what else worked!

I have used it but very gentle because I am soft lol I saw she started to self soothe in the morning so thought it was the right time. I used it for all her naps and bedtime. I done 3,4,5 on the first time. And basically increased it to two minute intervals. But now I have the confidence to leave her for longer. It’s like you have to train yourself to ignore the cries as well. It is hard but no more contact naps or feeding to sleep.

@Neets the crying is so difficult to hear. 😢
