It’s more about self soothing than the feeds for us. Nap times are horrendous.
I did this with my first around 3 months - I was terrified of the 4 month sleep regression 🙈 Took about two weeks but once she got the hang of it, she could just fall asleep by being put down awake. She never experienced any sleep regressions, but I really don’t know if that’s down to training or if she would’ve been a good sleeper anyway - we did exactly the same with our second and he’s an awful sleeper (now 20 months) and has hit every regression 🤷🏻♀️
I’m literally at my wits end with his naps. Getting him to sleep is a nightmare, he screams and cry’s every time, it’s takes ages and then he sleeps for 1 short wake window and the whole process starts again. I didn’t want to sleep train but I’m wondering if it will benefit him in the long run.
The general “rule” for sleep training is not before 4 months
I tried it a few times and I got zero sleep and became darth vadar meets miss trunchbul. My husband was basically throwing chocolate from a distance at me before I went for a nap 🫣🫣
My lactation consultant who's also a sleep consultant said not to start before 4 months and 12-15 lbs so they're big enough and eating enough during the day to sustain overnight sleeps.
