Sleep

Hey guys! I have a 14 month old and I’m really struggling with getting him to sleep on his cot. He goes to bed at 7pm and will be fine in his cot for a few hours then he will just wake up screaming and the only way I can stop him is if I put him in the bed with me. Any ideas on how I can try get him to stay in his cot all night would be appreciated.

I am the exact Same as you! My 14 month old will do the first 3 hours no problem in her cot then she’s waking crying until she’s be light into our bed😭

My 14 month old is the exact same he ends up sleeping in bed with us every night too he's always been a terrible sleeper I'm thinking about taking his sides off his bed and making it into toddler bed see if that helps xx

Same here in her cot till midnight then in my bed till morning sorry no advice is there any reason why your wanting to not co-sleep? Is it u just feel thats what u should be doing or u want/need to? My bubbas a real figget bum and altho sleeps right thru the night her movement does disrupt my sleep so i can see why u might want to keep bubba in the cot Either or both is fine just saying dont feel like u should if its not an issue. My son slept in with me right up to age of 5 and i wont be in a hurry with my daughter either.. there only little once hug them as long as u can..i've a moody teen now that doesnt want to hang out with us and looking back i'm so glad i co slept with him as long as he wanted.

The only way we got away from bringing baby into bed with us when sleep was tough was to layer in new sleep associations and then be really persistent with not bringing them into bed with you. You might have some long wakes in the night but you can get there. My daughter went through a few weeks of sitting up and crying. I used to sit and hold her until she settled and then lay her down, two hands on with gentle pressure and bum pat/shush. Had to be persistent, sometimes she sat back up and we started again but gradually she learned to get back sleep that way. Now if she wakes, I can just lean over the cot, lay her back down and bum pat for a minute xx
