When my little one showed signs of rolling, I panicked and went cold turkey that day. I expected it to be awful. She startled a couple of times which woke her up but then because she had her hands she could suck her thumb to self soothe. It was surprisingly fine. She had a similar thing the second night and then has been fine ever since. Luckily the sleeping bag didn’t ruin her sleep so I think just give it a go. They adapt so quickly! x
I also went cold turkey with taking my baby out of her swaddle up. Initially planned to do one arm at a time but I noticed it wasn’t a big deal to her, she slept with her arms up regardless of being in the swaddle so I went ahead and just removed the other. Like others have said she is able to put her hands in her mouth if she wants to, although we have a dummy so that’s a different story! 🫠 Good luck!
We swapped my little girl from a swaddle bag to a sleeping bag when she was about 8/9 weeks. She’s transitioned perfectly. The only downside is now she’s found her hands and waves them around, hits the dummy out and scratches the side of the cot. None of this affects her and she’s slept through the night still x
So I have tried to remove the swaddle and it just isn’t working. She is so restless, constantly rubs her eyes which keeps her awake, moves constantly but the minute I put her arms in she stops moving and goes into a nice deep sleep. So I just need to grin and bear it for however long it takes? I also have a toddler at the moment who has started waking 3-4 times a night too. So I’m running on very little sleep.
I was so worried about this too however did it just after Xmas and my LO surprised me so much! We did one arm out for every nap and bedtime for two nights, then the other arm out for the next two nights and then both arms out since! Obviously every baby is different but I actually think it’s made her sleep better as she’s able to self-soothe 😌
