Is she able to fall asleep independently? Or, do you need to sit with her everytime she wakes/at the start of the night?
I had to stop my sons naps for this reason! It’s harder during the day but then he falls asleep sooo much easier at night x
My little boy was doing exactly this for about 3 weeks. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and it's been horrible. Last night he slept through for the first time in months 🤞 I'm really hoping it was just a phase. He still has his nap in the day x
@Emily I need to sit with her. She screams and screams until we come back in the room. Don’t agree with the cry it out method but I have tried it a couple of times and it doesn’t work. Thing is she’s absolutely knackered it’s just like she can’t fall asleep
Because she needs you to fall asleep, on every wake/sleep cycle she needs you to support her to get back to sleep. I don’t agree with cry it out either, but it might be worth while having a look at other ways to help her fall asleep independently, especially if you’ve got another baby on the way x
@Emily she never used to be like this. She used to not want us there and would want us to leave then she’d independently fall asleep within 20 minutes then she hit 18 months and it was a nightmare. The weird thing is, it’s not all the time there is the odd night that she wakes through the night and I’ll sit with her for 10 minutes then go back to my room, she’ll shout me a couple of times then fall asleep herself. There’s times I’m sat with her for 2 hours through the night and she just won’t fall asleep even though we’re there. I’m going to try the no nap today and see how we get on. Her dads been working away so been even harder on me but thankfully he’s home tomorrow x
I'm in the exact same boat as you but I'm due in june. My little boy used to be a great sleeper but every night when we put him to bed and leave the room he's having the biggest meltdowns 😭 then is waking through the night screaming. I feel like I've tried everything apart from dropping his daytime nap. He currently naps from 12.30 to 2pm. I still feel he needs it. Feel like I'm just stuck in this situation x
@Rachel it’s so hard knowing what to do isn’t it! I’ve not napped her today so hoping tonight is going to go better 🤞🏼 she’s asked about her nap a few times and I can tell she is sleepy but so far she’s actually been great considering we were walking for 1.5 hours this morning. She has asked for dinner already so she can get her bath and bed. I’ll let you know how it goes! X
Same boat here. We dropped naps completely about 5 weeks ago as bed times went from 7/7:30-9:30/10pm. She also went from putting herself to sleep happily to needing us there holding her hand for an hour. No naps mean we’re back to 7:30 bedtimes but still needing us to get off to sleep at bedtime and at night wake ups.
Ye mine just stopped napping about 4 weeks ago now and is asleep within 5 mins of me putting her down x
