3 is a threesome. 4 is group sex. If the couples swap, that’s swinging whereas same room is group. I haven’t actually partaken, but have been invited and witnessed a lot in my crazy days. It can be like you describe, a party with very suggestive games that eventually evolves into sex or a party where they get right to it. I’ve seen both. And some of the most professional people you know are doing it. For many it’s not even that deep of a secret, especially if they’re good enough at their jobs to just be seen as eccentric.
