Nap help!

Can anyone please help or give advice around daytime naps? My daughter will scream and cry so so much when I start to initiate her nap. She’s tired and at the end of a wake window but if I rock her or take her upstairs or put her in her cot she screams and cries. This can go on for an hour before she cries herself to sleep! I’m at a loss and feeling really down about it all as I feel like I spend the whole day trying to get her to sleep and shes crying every time!

Have you tried putting her in the crib whilst she’s fully awake just before she’s due for a nap, and seeing if she will self settle? We do dark room, white noise and sleeping bag. If my girl gets comfy on me and starts dozing off, then I put her in the crib, the change of place wakes her up and she then gets upset. I wait until she does her first yawn, gets a bit spaced out whilst playing and then we do change nappy and put straight in crib. She will wriggle around, babble for a bit until she falls asleep. If she’s too tired though and ends up overstimulated whilst playing, she becomes very very upset and screams the house down. They’re all so different though so what works for one may not work for the other x

Thank you! I’ll try going on the early side but I feel that whenever I put her down or take her upstairs she just screams no matter what! She won’t even be rocked to sleep by me on the sofa she just screams! It’s so hard 😢😢

I've been going through this for a couple of days and it's so heartbreaking with his crying that I can't even help him.Doesn't want to be rocked, held, put down in his chair or mat not even the pram or car have helped him today. Doesnt help that he wont take a dummy either. Im hoping this is linked to the four month sleep regression. :( I've tried following wake windows, putting him in is cot early and nothing helps

@Lesley-Ann this is exactly the same as me! Been going on for around 2 weeks now with absolutely no signs of getting better yet!! It’s heartbreaking isn’t it! Think I’ve cried most days!!

I would take the newborn days over this anyday..... I say on days on like this maternity leave is very overwhelming and lonely but I know he's not doing it on purpose.. but if he is he is never going to Disney World haha but drop me a message if you feel like a chat :) we got this x

I would say if they're crying that much then probably don't need the nap and is under tired not ready for nap. Are you sure baby is tired? I sometimes have mistaken baby being tired when they are actually bored/frustrated/wanting more stimulation, sometimes I change up activity, go outside, go for a walk and either he falls asleep or stops fussing. Life is too short to spend the whole day stressing about naps baby will sleep once they're tired enough!!

I thought the same @Sofi at first but today it was getting on four hours he was awake for and even a walk in the pram didn't help just screamed the whole way round our walk :(

@Sofi I wish my little one just slept when she was tired enough🤣🤣she will scream for hours on end and refuse sleep for hours if I don’t get her down at the right time 🤦🏽‍♀️

:( what's their mood like if you just stop trying to get them to sleep? Like just try and play with them? Are they grumpy?

@Sofi grumpy and grouchy, shouting and whinging! Yawning, rubbing eyes etc 🫣
