Sleep sack to duvet & pillow

Hey all, We’re moving house in March and have decided to change my daughter to a floor bed when we move as I just don’t see the point in building her cot back up, so naturally I’m thinking about a duvet instead of a sleep sack as the risk of injury walking in a sleep sack is pretty great! I’m just super anxious about introducing a duvet & pillow. I have always been so strict on safe sleep and only recently have I let my daughter have a small comforter at night. How did everyone do the transition, and do your toddlers actually sleep under the duvet? Cause my daughter rolls around and does 360s all night 😅

I see what you mean about rebuilding the cot but personally I’m waiting till mine is 2 - a) he’ll be that much older and b) it’s much warmer in the summer so I’m less worried about the duvet coming off him. Like yours mine is a proper wriggler during the night x

My daughter has had a blanket for a little while I slowly introduced it so during tv times or when she was in our bed I would pull up the blanket making it fun etc so she knew what it was and how to use it! now she knows how to pull it up and move it easily off her! I’ve watched her in the night on the camera and she moves it off when she wants but as we’ve practiced she knows how to pull it over herself as well!

@Fay also partly a reason that she wakes some nights and will only then sleep if I hold her hand. She isn’t coming into our bed point blank so if she had a floor bed I could lay next to her atleast!

@Cerys yeah mines been poorly this weekend and will only settle if I’m rubbing his back - which kills my back bending over the cot! I was also thinking how much easier this would be if he had a floor bed x

@Fay yeah! I am planning on getting a floor bed that still has the 4 sides just a gap to get in and out so she’ll still think of it as a sleep space but would be so much easier on those nights if I could just get in with her until she’s properly asleep then roll away!

@Cerys agreed, let me know how you get on / which one you get! X

@Fay Thankyou! I’ll update this thread once I’ve bought one. I have just seen that they do togged sleep suits! That might be a good way forwards for me. I’m just terrified of a duvet😂😂

We use togged sleep suits and my Lo is in a floor bed. She has full mobility in them, I’m also too anxious for a duvet 🙈. We get them from tui at Sainsbury’s x

You could let her sleep on top of that duvet to begin with? My son wiggled a lot less with a duvet and was very busy in a sleeping bag. Could be worth a try 🙂

My son has a floor bed and loves it he sleeps from 7pm to 7.30/8am he still in a sleeping bag I won’t give a duvet or pillow untill he’s 2 and with it being in July that he turns 2 it won’t matter if he kicks his duvet off during the night as he won’t get cold so hopefully come winter again he will understand to keep it on him x

@Natallie what tog do you use and what do you dress them in underneath?? I was thinking about these but was just unsure how it works with clothing!

@Kirsty I just don’t want to put her in a sleeping bag because the risk of them tripping and falling quite big and I’d hate for her to hurt herself! She’s abit clumsy first thing in the morning as it is x

We are still using a cot, hoping to move to a floor bed soon. But our little boy has sleeping bag with legs. Got them on Amazon. They’re 2.5 tog and the feet can be open or folded over. But either way they can walk around easily with it on and still be warm. He loves them
