This is good! The majority of parents at this age have babies that wake up much more frequently than that!
Babies arenāt meant to sleep through at this age and honestly it will be up and down for a couple of years likely x
I think this sounds pretty normal but have you possibly tried a later bedtime? My little one goes down between 10pm and 11pm and that works for us for him sleeping right through x
My boys been sleeping through the night since around 8 weeks old, I give him his last bottle at 8pm, change nappy and put into pjs after then taken upstairs and rocked to sleep which is then around 9pm then he sleeps through the night till around 7am, heās currently on 6oz of milk and has 5 bottles a day
My baby wakes up every 30/40 minutes :( Last night she sleep 3 hours stretch and I feel recovery hahaha Is very hard... we use red light and somentimes helps
Thank you all I know i shouldn't moan and should very happy with the amount he sleeps but with a toddler waking up atm I'm just exhausted. But sorry for moaning I just didn't know whether he should be sleeping through right now or not xxx
@Ezra he is currently on sma pro xx
I would suggest offering a dream feed before you go to bed. Thatāll extend that initial sleep window. For example bottle at 7pm, then bed, dream feed at 10pm/11pm even midnight. The later the better. I do this with my LO, so he gets an extra feed while Iām still awake and that helps stretch his sleep to coincide with my sleep time.
My first baby didnāt sleep through until she was 1. My September baby is still up 4-5x a night which is very normal for this age.
Gosh these comments arenāt helpful at all! This is a mum stating sheās struggling with lack of sleep and how frequently her baby is wakingā¦the last thing she needs is to be told āthatās not that badā. Itās bad enough for her! My September little boy goes to bed at 8pm, then we dream feed him around 10/10:30pm and he goes through until 5:30/6am. We have started giving him some 4 month baby porridge at around 5pm in the hopes this will prevent the 6am wake up. Itās still early days but we are hopeful as Iām sick of the disturbed nights, my little girl slept 10pm til 8am from 8 weeks old š©xx
@Sophie I think this whenever I see someone ask for help with sleep windows of a night š© @Laura my little girl sleeps from around 11pm-9am and kind of has done since about 10-11 weeks old! I donāt have a bed time routine but her last feed will be around 11:30 and then we will go up to bed to which she will go down for the night - her feed before this is around 7:30-8 and she will have a 30-45m nap between then and her next bottle. I think because youāre putting him down early evening that stretch of sleep he is having would be over night if you made his bedtime later? But I know that isnāt possible for everyone xx
@Aimee I believe this too, I think so many babies ābedtimesā are too early and they are waking up hungry because they havenāt had that later evening feed
@Claire 1000% Iām a night owl, so it works for me to be up later with her naturally, and I notice everyone who says their baby doesnāt sleep through the night are putting their babies to bed at 6/7pm, and those who do are a lot later! Definitely a correlation there xx
@Shukri I'm going to defo try this thank you xx

@Sophie I know i was thinking of taking it down due to the comments but I genuinely am happy he sleeps but it's the broken sleep I'm shattered. Throughout the day he doesn't sleep for longer than half hour at a time so I'm absolutely exhausted. How do you get your little one to sleep longer in the day? Thank you so much for you comment xx
@Aimee thank you hun ill try putting him down abit later and see if that works. How long does your little one sleep in the day? My little boy cat naps every time I put him down for half hour max xx
@Aimee itās just ridiculous isnāt it, those types of comments just arenāt necessary. If this post doesnāt relate to you because your baby wakes up more, then keep scrolling because you clearly canāt help š¤£
@Laura I just ignore those types of comments as they arenāt helpful. Iām permanently tired from broken sleep even though itās only once. So through the day he naps in our bedroom in his Moses basket. He is swaddled, we play pink noise and close the curtains. He naps anywhere between 30 minutes to sometimes over 2 hours. But it changes every day. We just stick to his wake windows and put him down before he gets over tired. Have you tried googling a sleep schedule for a 4 month old? I find these useful as youāve a rough guide. Donāt stress if he wakes up sooner than the guide, just adjust your timings. Babies at 4 months can only be awake 1.5 - 2 hours at a time before they are over tired xx
Youāre doing amazing and itās so important to remember that! Being a mum is hard and even harder on broken sleep, my little one has the same sleeping pattern we donāt find anything really changes it sometimes heāll wake up once sometimes heāll wake up twice! I think itās just one of those things but hopefully itāll all settle for you soon, donāt pay attention to comments that are negatively aimed at your post the amount of times Iāve googled and been tempted to write a similar post is crazy! You got this!ā„ļø
My situation sounds the same as yours. Not terrible but could be better! At the moment my hubby is sleeping on my toddlers floor to keep her sleeping through š then I sort my 5 month old who has a feed about 1 and then gets restless from about 4/5am. Iām thinking of trying a bit of baby porridge soon before bed? This helped my first when she was this little. Good luck xx
@Laura say she wakes up at 8:30, she will have 5 bottles a day, and 4 naps during the day. These all fall about an hour and half two hours after sheās woken up. They vary in time to be honest, depends if theyāre a contact nap to which she sleeps longer - some can be 30 minutes but usually she gets around an hour. Today sheās napped for nearly two hours but I went back to bed and co slept with her because we had a long day yesterday. But it wonāt change her pattern she just might have a little bit longer wake window and shorter nap next x Iād say on average she gets about 4 to 5 hours worth of naps during the day between waking and bed time, and then does the 8 hour stretch of night x
@Sophie yeah I've tried to follow one online but no matter what he literally only sleeps for half hour max in the day at a time unless I let him nap on me then he would go for a good hour or so little monkey xx
@Terri-Jayne I needed to hear this so so much so thank you xx
My girl goes to bed at 8/9pm and wakes up at 7am, we have a few wakes of her wanting her dummy back recently but she settles straight off once sheās got it back. We donāt do a ārelaxing bedtime routineā, her last nap is at half 5- half 6 (maybe 7 if sheās extra tired). Then we do her bath, bottle and then we just play as normal, read books and then as soon as she starts showing sleepy cues we put her in crib with sleeping bag and white noise. I formula feed and she has about 30-35oz during the day so I offer 7oz every 3 hours, this way she doesnāt get hungry over night. Do you think heās waking up hungry or is he just wanting to be resettled? Iād say from my experience, try offering more formula during the day, the more you can fill them up the longer they sleep for. Iād probably say to do another nap after 4pm as 6 30pm seems like an early bedtime. So maybe do nap at 6 30, bottle when he wakes up from that and then bed after that wake window??xxx
Thank you so much hun... I'm going to defo try that. He has about 6-7oz every 3 hours through the day but again when he naps he cat naps like for half hour at a time never for any longer unless contact napping on me. He goes to bed at 7pm but im going to try and dream feed him tonight see if that does the trick if not I'm going to move his bedtime later because his last nap is at 4.30pm til 5 then awake for 2 hours then bed xx
@Laura also try the huckleberry app. Itāll track naps, recognising patterns and recommending optimum sleeping times. Best of luck mama ā¤ļø.
We dream feed my little boy so he lasts through the night as has a fully tummy. Past couple of nights he's slept 8+ hours he's just over 5 months old. I would recommend dream feeding xx
I don't know if this helps but my daughter went through a similar thing at around 3 months however she had slept around 8 hours a night before this so it might be different. When this happened I would only offer a small feed around an ounce for the first night I did 2 ounces during the night but ensure that she had a larger feed before bed and when it was time to get up. Within a week she stopped waking up for them. It did mean that she would wake a bit more and was a little fussy but I would rock her back to sleep with her dummy and she was fine. My nan recommended giving her water during the night and she said that she did with her children and within a few days they stopped waking up. People may not agree with this but your son will adjust and eat more during the day once he has established a routine. My daughter now sleeps 9.30-10 through till 8.30-9.
@Kayleigh I tried this last night and he still woke up at 2am ššš

Sorry but what you're describing is completely normal for a baby! Waking twice in the night. He might be hungry! The majority of babies don't sleep through the night so I would be happy with what you've got! Mine wakes every 1-2 hours 𤣠xx
