Hi would love some advice . Please share !
30 weeks this week. I’m currently under the care of Chorley birth centre. And at the start of my pregnancy nothing could have changed my mind about wanting to give birth there as first choice (assuming no complications).
However, my mum who isn’t a midwife but has experience managing labour wards has done nothing but attempt to scare me out of giving birth anywhere but the Preston birth centre / labour ward.
I won’t put what she’s said as my aim is not to scare any one else, I’m so conflicted . I love the care I receive at Chorley so really I’m looking for advice on is Preston birth centre very similar? What’s the care like ? How safe am I at Chorley, any FTM’s who gave birth there ?
I think im looking for reassurance that Chorley would be a perfectly safe place to be , even if something went wrong .
P.s I’m aware I may not get any choice if there is need for intervention. So this is a first plan scenario!

They’re very good, I know a few people who have given birth there :) nothing but good words. They always say if anything complicated was to happen they could almost every time within enough time get you to Preston hospital if any complications were to arise :)

I was under the same.
I decided to give birth at Preston as if I needed intervention I would have to be take to Preston and didn’t want to risk the delay for my baby… personal choice.
Preston were absolutely amazing I had a failed induction and the midwifes were absolutely amazing preparing me for my emergency c section! I can’t fault any of the staff even after giving birth they helped me do the basics as I couldn’t get up at first! Also didn’t discharge me due to me still having pains so ran multiple ultrasounds to check I was safe to leave!
Luckily I did go to Preston as I did need that emergency c section I wouldn’t have had time to get to Preston from Chorley😅
But everyone is different so do what’s best for you x

Ftm here, i had my little boy at chorley. I was offered gas and air, codeine and pethidine but refused. I was in and out the bath just cuz i dont cope well with heat but the most relaxing place ever. Lovely room. Your in your own room the entire time. Your baby never leaves your sight either which is amazing in my opinion. The midwives are lovely too. I was scared of complications as i had issues the entire pregnancy where growth scans presumed him to be very small (he was an 8pounder at 38 weeks, defo not small) alswell as constant kidney issues, issues with my blood and other bits. They kept me at ease, kept me laughing, and kept me persevering. Once birthed he was put straight onto me and only time he wasn’t on me before i went to sleep was when my parents had cuddles and when they weighed him and gave him vitamin k. He was even on me as my placenta was birthed and whilst i was stitched which was my choice. Couldn’t recommend them more. My mate had hers at Preston and hated it.

I’m on my second child and up until now, at almost 36 weeks, I have been under the care of Chorley but I think I’m going to switch to Preston hospital. Not because I don’t think they’re great, just because of my situation. I was with Chorley with my first but he was back to back so it became long and painful and I ended up going to Preston in an ambulance. Everything was ok I just needed forceps once at Preston as he wasn’t for coming out. I wanted to try Chorley this time round but midwife thinks baby might be breech. Baby was also breech at 20 week scan. So I’ve got to go to Preston for a scan on Monday to confirm. Even if she’s head down I don’t want to take any chances now as think my babies don’t like to just stay in the normal head down position 😅 so might need extra support and would feel more comfortable at Preston x

I was coming to ask this too. Everyone I've met speaks highly of Chorley birth Centre, the parking at Preston is something else. And I'm leaning towards Preston just in case there's an emergency. But I might end up going to chorley. I hope all will be well.
so since this I have changed my mind about 5 times but the more I’ve been to Preston and the more I’ve spoken to my midwife the more I lean towards Chorley . All my care is under Chorley atm and I feel so comfortable there . My midwife has said worst case scenario, if on the day I go in to labour I decide I’m too anxious about Chorley I can change my mind ! Or if I change my mind half way through it’s also an option .

Hey what about chorley and ribble hosp? Whyd they take u to preston hosp?
