@Danielle we do it too
It’s a Spanish language thing
I say it but with an S at the end so, mamas.
It’s cringe to me when I hear it but I guess if I grew up hearing it maybe I’d think differently. And imagine calling a little boy daddy 😂 idk just gives me the ick lol especially since both are used in a sexual connotation often too
Cringe lol
@Autumn bubba or papa! Not mommy and daddy! It is weird that cutesy bubba or papa doesn’t usually stick with boys but I’ve noticed it’s more like your mom or aunty will continue to call you that into adulthood where your partner or peers wouldn’t But mama very frequently sticks with women and is used when being pursued
@Asha haha yeah I noticed that with boys too was just trying to make a comparison cuz people might be able to see why daddy is creepy when they don’t see mama as weird at all. It’s all just what you’re used to
Sometimes I’ll say mama(s) to my 6 week old daughter. Pretty typical in Hispanic/Latino culture
I’m not Hispanic nor I speak Spanish and I say it because I think is cute
I’m Hispanic so I’m used to it as “hey mamas” or “hey lil mama!” @Autumn for boys we’d say “hey papas!” Or papi although I don’t like papi as much lol. Never daddy that would be so strange. 😂 what I really hate is when people refer to lil boys as sexy! Ewwww “lil sexy man man”… like WHAT
@Autumn my roommate calls her son father.. and has her daughter saying it to her brother I think it’s kinda strange. But I’m a hypocrite cuz I call my daughter mama(s) or babe but I don’t call her mother or mom so just throws me off when I hear her saying father all the time to her son who is only 1 years old.
i do this too. mama, mamas, mami
@D3$T!N¥🔥 okay that’s def weird.. father??! 😂 damn it’s a wonder how kids these days aren’t more confused about all these nicknames that make no sense lol
I call my daughter “baby/babe” but not “mama”

@Korissa we also use Papas for little boys in our family.
Everyone saying it’s a Hispanic thing when I’m from Mexico and think it’s so cringe 🫣 haha I thought it was a midwestern thing?? Maybe different parts of Hispanic Americas??
Depends on the person saying it.
@Asha i did know someone who called their kids mommy and daddy😭😭😭😭
I call my baby boy papas or papa and I don’t use those ever in a sexual tone so I guess that’s why it’s not weird to me. It’s like how my kids call me mommy and their dad daddy. Context matters and I think the way you use words matter. We do it all over Colombia and it’s not weird or “cringe” I got confronted about it once and it was from an American person and I thought maybe that’s why they thought it was weird
I do this even to my niece but I am Hispanic, my female dog is also a victim 😂
I think it's a cultural thing I've always heard little girls called mamas and little boys papas. I use it all the time.
I think it’s more of a hispanic thing
