If I pour 210ml of water in the bottle which Is 8oz and add 8 scoops of formula and then the water rises to 240ml which is technically 9oz. If he finishes the bottle has he drank the 9oz it ended up being or the 8oz I intended it to be, it's confusing

I googled this today! Apparently is the actual amount he drinks, so that's 240ml x

so he's actually drinking 9oz and not 8 if he finishes the bottle?! That's mad

yeah I know! it's crazy x

Noo, it’s still just 8 ounces as that’s the amount of water you put in. It’s just water displacement from adding the formula but it counts as 8 ounces not 9 if we’re talking nutritionally x

but in terms of logging in on my app that I use to take notes of all his feeds and stuff do I put 8oz or 9oz? And when I go doctors and they ask how much he's drinking do I say 8oz or 9oz I'm confused

210 = 7oz FYI 🙈 240 = 8
And I have no idea! We were trying to make sense of that ourselves.

210ml is 7oz. But you base it off the amount before you add the scoops, as the scoops will increase the volume as will bubbles. Hope this helps.

my bad got the conversion wrong but if he drinks the whole thing after the volume has increased then surely he drank the high volume of fluid not the original volume?

Biggest advice is don't track it 😆 just follow hunger cues and fullness cues and feed on demand. If you were breastfeeding you wouldn't know how much they were drinking.
Keeping an eye on output (wet and dirty nappies) to make sure they're not dehydrated to put your mind at rest

no it’s by the amount you first put in, Werid I know. That’s what our HV and Midwife told us. Xxx

thanks

We are tracking too because my daughter's weight gain is an issue.
Told by paediatrician and Health Visitor that the number of scoops = the oz drank. So 8 oz of water, 8 scoops = 8 oz drank. They told me to ignore the water level when it's mixed because the air/bubbles added makes the water level rise
We now have to also guess how much she throws up each time. That part isn't easy 🫣
