We cant decide between Eleanor or Eleanora. We dont want people to pronounce the ending of Eleanor like "nuh" we want the "nor" sound and where we live some people get lazy and say it like ellen-uh

Both are beautiful names but I feel like people may do the same thing with Eleanora depending on where you live. I know in Midlands UK it would likely be pronounced Ellen-or -uh still 🙈

based on how you want the name to be pronounced, i would go with Eleanora. people are lazy, and even those who KNOW how Eleanor should be pronounced will often say Ellen-Uh, just because it's "easier", in the same way that people know how to pronounce names like Natalie, but will still drop the T in the middle because it is easier to do so. 🤷🏻♂️
Eleanora is far harder to pronounce lazily, and i think the majority of people will pronounce the name as you want them to, with the "nor" sound - and if you like both names, you could still call her Eleanor as a nickname. 💕

It’s funny, my cousin is an Eleanor and she lives in New Zealand, so they pronounce it with the “nor” ending. Which means I grew up thinking all Eleanor’s were said this way!
It seems in England you’re more likely to get the “nuh” ending, but people can be corrected. It’s just whether it bothers you to keep correcting new people all the time..

My little one is called Eleanor and EVERYONE pronounces it as Ellen-nuh, not Ellen-nor. Even when I correct them they forget the next time. I think it depends on how much it would bother you with the constant mispronunciation… I don’t regret naming her Eleanor, she suits it and those closest to us know how to pronounce her name.

I’m in Australia and definitely pronounce it with the nor ending. Is it not a completely different name if it’s pronounced with a nuh ending, or is that just me 🤣

Im in Aus too and so surprised by this! I’ve only heard nor/nora.
I know a little Eleanora & she gets lots of compliments

i think Eleanora sound more feminine i like it better 🙂
