Doom scrolling infront of children

Hey! So I've always had a problem with parents and myself doom scrolling infront of children. I find it deeply triggering and I'm really proactive in not having my phone near me infront of my children. I read infront of them and crochet. Both hobbies purely taken up as a result of not having my phone around! My problem is, I am loving my new hobbies to a point where I am engrossed in that, as I would be with a phone! I do feel it's a healthier choice and my children see me modelling these habits that they ask questions or read next to me. I just have this feeling asking myself if I'm now obsessed with these new things that, I'm avoiding being more present! I'm guilty either way! I'm not sure what I'm wanting from this post, just wanted to share my thoughts and see what others thought 😊

Nothing wrong with having an interest. I think it’s good to show an active interest in something. It shows persistence etc. Great if it’s something they can get involved with but I think it’s still fine if they can’t. We don’t do screens as entertainment but I’m occasionally on my phone and if I am I’ll explain what I’m using it for and sometimes show him. Ie I’m just trying to book the play centre for you, if there are any spaces left.

@Cal thank you for your message ♥️ I create these habits in hope that it would inspire them to take up in similar interests, I guess it's all just about balance and sometimes my own healthy habits can get in the way! Yes, I'm the same! 'Mummy is setting a timer' 'i am emailing about such and such' 'I am looking for Y so we can do Z' etc etc it is healthier to explain these things infront of children as its hardly avoidable these days!
