My little boy fell in love with a lilac pair of Bluey pjs in Morrisons today and he was not leaving the shop without them! I didn’t have a problem with it but there was a lady who saw him pick them out and she was staring at us. Then my mum tried to present him with the ‘boy version’ which he didn’t want. And she told him the ones he wanted were ‘too girly’. I bought them for him anyway as I didn’t see why he should have the ones he didn’t like instead.
Just wondered what other people’s thoughts are or if anyone’s had a similar experience.

Haven’t really had it with him picking clothes (mostly because he likes cars and they tend to be gendered more to boys colours) but his favourite colour is pink and if he had the option of any colour of something, he would pick a pink one.
I don’t really care. The idea of what is ‘for girls’ vs ‘for boys’ have been decided by adults. Kids don’t know. They just know what they like.

Yep my sons favourite colour is purple
it’s so true! Nothing about the pjs seemed girly to him because they were Bluey and he watches Bluey. Mine loves cars too so hasn’t really been an issue before. But he went through a massive Minnie Mouse phase when he was two and it was adorable. My mum didn’t have a problem with that so I was surprised by her reaction today.

And wanted to wear purple clothes but only can be found in the girls section

My little girl always picks boys clothes mainly because she loves paw patrol, cars and dinosaurs, I honestly don't see the issue, certain colours aren't only for certain genders.
If it makes him happy let him have them

My son wears unicorn wellies and a unicorn coat, he also loves My Little Pony and Gabby's Dollhouse so he has some stuff with those characters on. I don't mind it at all and so far nobody has said anything to us, hopefully it stays that way.

Yeah my little boy has had loads of “girls” clothes. He lives in leggings from the girls section
So glad to hear others are also letting their little ones have the clothes/toys they want instead of being confined by what is marketed at them. I put the pyjamas on him tonight at bedtime and he was sooooooo happy!
