Can your baby get themselves into sitting position?

At what point do they learn to sit up on their own? I mean physically getting in and out of a sitting position.

If I place Mine on his bum, he can go from sitting to all 4's/crawling. But can't get into sitting from any other position. E.g. Can't go from all 4's/crawling to sitting, or laying down to sitting etc. How can I teach him?

Mine has been doing this for about a month but he was an early mover! I would say lots of floor/ tummy time to encourage them to learn how to do it. It was something he just did himself. He learnt the rocking back and forth on all fours first, then how to go into sitting then crawling

My baby has only started doing this in the last week, and she'll be 9 months on the 22nd 🙂

Mine started about 2 weeks ago sitting himself up at 8 months and now he's pulling up to stand and cruising along furniture

Mine does on bed easily but today he did on his play mat for the first time. They just need little confidence n guidance. Eventually they will.

Naturalbornparenting IG are good at teaching such things

i don’t think you can necessarily teach them my girl can sit up herself if she’s not fully laid flat like on a pillow or in her bouncer but it’s all about core strength at the end of the day so lots of tummy time could perhaps help? i’m by far an expert so i could be just waffling but to encourage my baby i just offer out one hand so she’s doing most of the work but if she’s struggling sitting up by herself laid down i do also offer my other hand but never pull her up i just let her do the work i think it’s also down to confidence

My little girl has done this for a while but tbh I wish she didn’t because when she wakes in the night she sits herself up and starts playing and ends up fully awake🙈
