Has anyone given calpol/calprofen alongside calcough??

I might sound very silly and I’ve looked online and it says you can but even though it’s in black and white I feel like I’m second guessing myself!

My baby isn’t well (he’s 4 months old), so had calpol at 9:20am and then I waited 4 hours to give him Calcough as he has such a terrible terrible chesty cough (I’ve took him to the gp who checked him over and said his chest is clear)… I’m just wondering if anyone else has given these 2 combinations together?

He’s coughing so much where he’s throwing up and mucous is also coming up with it😩

To be honest, cough medicines are not very careful effective on babies, kids or adults. Sometimes they can ease and cause temporary relief for tickly throat coughs but chesty coughs are more difficult. Things can can help is try moving the mucus - turn shower on and steam the bathroom out then take baby in there to breath the steam. Saline nose spray and frida suction. Dehumidifier specifically for babies (some for grown ups use oils that are not great for babies). Chest/back percussion to move mucus (read into how to do this correctly). Lost of ideas you can try that mums have been doing forever and can be pretty effective. Hope little one feels better soon.

I will give the shower idea a go later thank you! I’ve been using saline spray and try the snot sucker but every time I try I don’t get anything😂😩, vapour rub on his chest, I have a humidifier which I have on every night but may need to put it on high whilst he’s not well, thank you for the ideas and tips! Do you think it’s work plugging in a calpol plug in? X

100%. Can’t believe I forgot to mention calpol plug in. We swear by it. Whenever my 5 year old has a cold, we use one and he sleeps soundly. Iv also recently used one for my 3 months old as she was congested (recommended not to use before 3 months but she was literaly a week off so..)

thank you! I’m hoping it might help his little cough, it’s awful😩 when I’m feeding him and he has a coughing fit he ends up throwing up makes me so anxious x

Yeah it’s rough! Don’t worry too much about the throwing up though. Babies don’t care about throwing up like we do 😂 I’d just take lots of breaks, keep them upright to feed if possible etc and use saline spray to loosen up whatever is in the back of the throat before feeding
