Anti reflux formula with omeprazole

Just wondering if you can have anti reflux formula alongside omeprazole? My little one is on highest dose of omeprazole for the acid but he would still vomit with normal formula, we tried gaviscon/ carobel and nothing seemed to settle him so I changed to anti reflux and for a week it helped with sickness but now he’s constantly screaming in pain, spits up everytime he feeds, has awful wind and just seems so uncomfortable all the time.
He was on CMPA milk when he was first born but it made his reflux horrific as it’s so thin so we changed as HV advised it mustn’t be CMPA due to symptoms not improving.
I’m at a loss of what to do! Anyone got advice or can help?

Sorry to hear this, you sound like you’re having such a hard time.

Did you only try one allergy milk when it was suspected CMPA?

My first born sounds exactly like your son and we had to go through 3 CMPA milks until we found the one that worked for him.

He ended up on Neocate, carobel to thicken the milk and omeprazole before we saw a huge change in him x

As Lindsay says it can take multiple milks before you fund tge right one. We tried 4 and she settled on Neocate. All of the CMPA milks need a thickener when babies are tiny, too x

it is so hard, poor baby has just been unsettled his whole life 😩
Yeah we were put on aptamil pepti which was horrific he would just vomit constantly during/after feeds.
They prescribed sma alfamino but terrified to change incase it makes his reflux terrible again as he was in agony in aptamil 😩

What were your son’s CMPA symptoms? As my son was tongue tied but got that sorted 6 weeks ago and reflux continued.. he was then diagnosed with GORD and that seems to be the only symptom they’re putting it down to as he has no other symptoms 😩 I honestly don’t know what to do x

My son had horrific silent reflux, would scream all day every day, struggled to poo and had a slight rash.

We also tried aptamil pepti and found it terrible too. I know you don’t want to risk changing anything but if it is dairy that’s causing the problem then the sooner you change then the better as it can take 2 weeks to see an overall improvement, just make sure to add carobel to any of the prescribed milks like Anna said.

It took until my son was 16 weeks to get him the right combination of milk/meds and was a bit of trial and effort x

I’ve just started with the sma alfamino with carobel but I’m struggling, he is screaming crying non stop and refusing the bottle (assuming because it tastes as bad as it smells).. I dunno what to do 😩 feel like I’ve went back in time 7 weeks where he struggled with feeding and screamed non stop 😩x
