We’re just starting to switch from ready made formula to powder and we’ve bought the nuby rapid cooler and flask to do the hot shot method.
Currently my baby has 5 oz. Do we leave 1oz of boiling water in the bottle to do the hot shot with and pour 4oz into the rapid cooler? I’m worried about not having enough boiling water to kill bacteria.
Also any quicker methods to make a bottle especially for night would be great. As I just made a bottle doing the hot shot and the bottle was way too hot for her.
I’ve seen you can pre make bottles and put them in the fridge/cool bag but I just need to get a bottle warmer or it’ll be too cold for her to drink.

I was told 10ml per oz for the hot shot so 50ml for 5oz, so closer to 2oz 😊
I’ve seen some people do a flask of boiling water and cooled boiled water for overnight xx

thank you! 😊xx

I use the nuby cool when out and about .. I just fill it with hot water to the line using the measurements written on the inside .. Then add the powder and shake it up to cool it. That’s what it says to do on the nuby website

wouldn’t you have to clean that after every use of putting the milk in there? Whereas just putting water to cool in there you could use it more times before cleaning?

I just wash it with boiling water after every use.. as it doesn’t fit in my steriliser, never had any problems.. My baby is 6 months old and has never been sick

if you want to make bottles quickly especially in the night you could
get a prep machine, we use it and it’s a god send! We just use our rapid cool when we’re out and about xx

So measure it out in the bottle. Pour about 4mls in and do your scoops.
The water will be hot enough as it comes out the kettle, scolding.

Prep machine was a life saver for us, and the best thing we bought. When we were out, we would take a flask of boiling water, and a flask of cooled boiled water and follow the hot shot method, so much easier than the rapid cool and still carrying the same amount of flasks.
You'll soon get to know the perfect way to use the hot shot method

We've just started using one and I do 10ml per oz so for a 7oz bottle, I use 70ml hot shot then put 140ml in the rapid cool, cool it for the full time then add it to the bottle. Our LG likes her milk slightly warm (think it helps her constipation) and it's warm enough for her.
