NCT classes - would you bother?
So this is my second pregnancy and I’m wondering whether it’s worth doing an NCT course. I had booked onto an NCT course during my first pregnancy but my son decided to arrive 7 weeks early so I never made the classes! I’ve generally heard they aren’t particularly worthwhile and mostly just an expensive way to meet other expectant parents. I’m also wondering how much I will take away from the course having already been through labour and birth etc (granted I am hoping it will go very differently this time!). Would love to hear people’s thoughts ☺️

My NCT course was worth its weight in gold because I made some really good friends, see them few times a week even five years later. However, this was really all I took away from it, there were some useful bits of info as first time parents but I don’t think would be needed second time around. I know they used to do some refresher courses which were cheaper/ shorter for second time parents so maybe worth checking that out
Honestly myself and my partner attended an NCT Course and honestly based on the information you're given during the course I don't think it was worth it for the price. I listened to a lot of audiobooks during pregnancy and found them to be more informative NCT is a good way of learning about birth choices and really helps with self-advocation. By the same token, this can be learned through reading into hypnobirthing The course does seem to be geared towards first-time parents NCT Courses can be a good way to make new friends and connect with other parents, but this isn't always a given Some positives are that you do feel supported while you're on the course and connected to other people that are due around the same time while you're pregnant and for the weeks following birth x
