Swimming lessons

We haven’t ever done swimming lessons. We started taking our daughter to the pool around the same age and she’s always enjoyed it. Apart from getting ready to go in and coming out to get dried 😂 I would persevere, they usually adapt quickly

I would say save your money and just take the little one swimming yourself :) you can teach basics. Hold them so they learn to be comfortable floating on their front/back.

I have a friend who does lessons and I asked for some tips, she said avoid armbands or floatation aids as they a lot of times get in the way and are hard to learn to swim around, get them used to water on their face as early as possible (safely of course). I still dunk my son under but not straight down so the water doesn't just go up his nose. I count down and lift him out and basically dive him in gently but side on head first :)
Also .. make a game. Buy the toys and balls that float that they can swim to get to(with your support obviously)

I take my son to the mariner centre in Falkirk which has a good baby bit, a wee slide and play station and a wave pool.

Hey, we’ve done swimming from 10 weeks old. I did find it a complete faff to start with but she’s started really enjoying it the past couple of months so glad we continued with it - we’re at the Juvenate pool which is really warm, but it was only when I moved her from just shorts to shorts plus a fleecy wetsuit that she became happier. So suggest you try adding an extra layer and see if that helps.

maybe water was too cold , my girl prefers warmer so i am struggling with pools .. does your baby likes bath time ?

@Agne she does love it! Which was why I was so surprised that she was unhappy!
