Just to clarify, half past 4 or half 4
I think half 4 is a British phrase 🤔
If we were speaking English I would show up at 4:30. But in Dutch “half vier” (literally half four) means 3:30 😅
Lol our British colleagues used "We'll catch up fortnight" or something like that. All the Americans were like hmmmmmmmm what?
Yes British say half 4, in Czech that’d also mean 330, very confusing for me when I moved to Northern Ireland
I said this to a Romanian mum about a pick up time and she looked very confused! I didn’t realise that it was just a uk thing until I saw it on TikTok.
I had no idea this or a fortnight was a British thing🤣
I voted 3:30. I'm usually familiar with 'half past four' and just 'three thirty,' but where I currently am, they say 'half vier,' which translates to 'half four' and means 3:30. It's confusing, though! Lol.
Half four?!? Ohhh so you mean 2pm!!! Got it!!!
🤣🤣🤣 don’t mind me I’m a menace! Yea half 4 is 4:30 it’s definitely a UK thing.
So interesting! I saw a man who was from the US and new to living in the U.K. talk about it on Insta and had no idea you guys would think it was a different time 😂
Half 4 in The Netherlands would be 3:30, halfway to 4 o'clock. I believe it's the same in the US, loads of borrowed words etc from the Dutch language. Half 4 in the UK however is 4:30. Just skipped the word 'past'
Half past for is 4:30 half to 4 is 3:30 I’ve never heard just half 4
Half 4 - I would think 4:30 cause the relevant number said was 4, but I wouldn’t be shocked if I was wrong cause I’d be guessing (tho I’d just ask for clarification). If you said half past 4 then it’s clearly 4:30

I’m asking you what that means and then getting there accordingly lol
I'm asking if you mean half 4 as in 3:30 or half past 4 as in 4:30.
(uk here) I would be so confused if I said meet at half 4 to someone and they showed up at 330, I suppose always best to clarify what you mean but never crossed my mind that it could mean anything else
I’d assume you forgot to type the “past” Or it autocorrected something!
I would assume half 4 would mean 330pm and half past 4 would be 430p? We just say what we mean. Either 330p or 430p no weird sayings 😂
@Mee I am British and this sentence makes no sense lol
I would Be confused 🇺🇸 lolll
Are you starting at 3 or 4?
The correct answer/time would be 4.30. Thanks everyone 😊
Do you mean half past 4? I honestly never heard the phrase “half four”
