I am at 13 weeks and the blood work testing showed an 81% chance of trisomy 21. My ob answered some questions but it's a lot to process. From what I have read there is a 50% chance of miscarriage at first trimester and 14 weeks for this, I am nervous about miscarrying. I am waiting for the ob specialists to call to set up an appointment.
From what I have seen as well is that most positives have been at 95%, we have more room at 81% but I was wondering if any other moms have been told this news with closer percentages to ours and what that experience was like for them.

Just to check, the title says T21 but then your text says T13?
I was given a 1 in 64 chance of T21 from bloods and an amnio confirmed baby did have T21
sorry yes t21

Look sometimes these tests are inaccurate. I opted not to have NIPT testing for this reason. I have nasty anxiety and do not wanna stress about the possibility (and that’s what it is) of birth defects. I have I’ll love my baby any way she comes. I would never terminate based on a possibility of genetic defects. I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you have a happy and healthy Baby.
Yes we don't believe in termination unless obviously the baby physically will not make it. I opted for the test, but I wish I would have waited later to take it. Being in this I am happy I have results and can prepare more because we really had just expected another healthy delivery and healthy newborn. as I have a 3 yo right now. Live and learn but I do wish we would have waited for a few weeks before the test as I am mostly nervous right now because I have yet to get another ultrasound and last was done at 6 weeks and I have to wait to get with MFM now for it, with additional risk of miscarriage and I have experienced a ton more cramping with this pregnancy than the last I am glad I know and am getting to MFM. From what I have read the test is pretty accurate for trisomy 21.. it's what it was designed for. 2% chance of inaccuracy. I have pondered the possible inaccuracy of this test but it's relatively probably correct. Sometimes the amount of detected genetics can be a lesser sum
But I gave two vials of blood and it seems they had plenty to get accurate results. From where I have looked into, parents with a 50% on this test have tested positive in amnio often. For me I didn't want to do an amnio at first but now I am considering it because of its window of time to do it and I'd like to prepare as much as I can for learning how to take care of my baby. As my understanding is heart issues/respiration issues/ stomach issues.
My mother has taken time off to help us, she wouldn't have been able to had we not taken the test. We just couldn't handle the shift so drastically if we were to find out in the moment with the health issues and having a 3 year old. We can't have this little one at our local hospital which saddens me greatly I was very much looking forward to having baby and bringing baby home right away.

I never would consent to an amino. They gave me a 40% chance of miscarriage from amnio and I had already lost a pregnancy. I won’t risk my miracles. I’m 37 and thought I was one and done. So this baby is I’ll be born however she is and I will do what it takes to be there and be supportive. I go for my 20 weeks scan next week. She’s super active and always on the move. They said she looks and sounds pretty healthy and I had my last ultrasound at 10 weeks
I am glad you shared that with me, that is what I am concerned about with the amino is increased miscarriage risk. I think that the ultrasounds will show what we need to know in due time. Idk if they can do an amnio closer to delivery?
