Advice gladly received!

Hi all, I’m supposed to be going away abroad for 3 nights in August without my LG, she will be 22 months when the time comes. My MIL and her partner will be moving in to take care of her. They’re amazing and so good with her, but they live far away so she doesn’t really know them at all. I’ve never left my LG overnight as she is a terrible sleeper and screams for me. She’s gotten better at receiving dad in the night though. Anyway, the thought of leaving her with people she doesn’t know well overnight has started to fill me with dread and I honestly don’t know whether to go or not. I know I want to go. I never take time for myself, but the guilt is real! Curious to know what other mum’s would do as I don’t have long until I have to make a decision. Thanks.

Are they able to come and do the bedtime routine a few times so she knows it’s ok and gets used to them doing it? Or do they live too far to do that? https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFFbKe0IDTR/?igsh=MWhwZDQ5Z3doZHg4Ng==

They live too far, however, they will be coming a few days before we actually leave to do some practice runs and get her comfortable with them!

It’s a tough one. I would usually say go away and enjoy yourself but if your baby doesn’t know them then it may make her feel upset. If you can’t do any practice runs then can you FaceTime them a lot so at least she gets to know them more?

@Chloé Collier yep that’s my biggest hesitation, knowing she’ll be unsettled! We FaceTime every day, so she knows her face and voice at least. She’s going to come down over Easter for a few days so we can have a crack at it then. So tricky isn’t it. I know it’ll be good for me, but the mum guilt is real!

Based on your answers of others questions do what’s best for you mama if this trip is something you need then go ahead and go on your trip based on your answers she’ll be fine and your MIL is someone you can trust enough for this trip 🩷

What about staying with her dad?

@Jasmine thank you, that’s really kind!

@Amber the trip is for his best friend’s wedding, which he is the best man at! So if he I didn’t go, it would be a case of staying behind while he goes!
