Flipping onto belly at bedtime

My almost 7 month old keeps flipping onto his belly at bedtime. He cannot easily flip himself back to his back. He used to get upset and want to be flipped back over, but now he is getting sleepy on his belly and once or twice he has fallen asleep. My husband and I keep flipping him back to his back, but we are wondering if we should let him sleep on his belly? I know it’s supposed to be okay if he decides to sleep on his belly but I just don’t like that he can’t flip on his own. What should I do?

my son started that at 6 months, at first i was SOOO worried, but as I watched him even when he would dig his head into the mattress he always picked his head back up and was always breathing fine and, of course, those were the nights he would sleep the best. I say if he can carry the weight of his head and can pick up his head and chest your baby is completely fine. He’s just learning what is comfortable for him so you shouldn’t have to worry!

As long as he can move his head side to side and push up on his arms I think he is totally fine to sleep on his belly! My girl loves sleeping that way (although she’s able to flip).

My son is doing this now at 6 months if I flip him back he flips right back to his belly. Or he cries I’ve been leaving him alone

I'm on baby #5, and all of them have slept on their bellies starting around 5-7 months. As long as there's nothing in the crib with them and they have good head control, it's ok.

As long as there aren’t any blankets in the crib and he can turn his head side to side it’s okay, my girl has been sleeping on her belly for 2 months now. I waited until I could tell she could turn her head but again just make sure you don’t have anything extra in the crib that he could accidentally bury his head in

He will learn to flip back! Just takes time 💕

Baby number 5 and tummy sleep and on his side naps are the only positions he’s comfortable. If he can turn his head he should be fine on his belly. No stuffed animals or bulky blankets of course.
