Sy-ril. A bit like Syria but without the ‘a’ at the end, and an ‘l’ instead.

Si-rill (short ‘i’ sound)
Also British… Never heard it pronounced any other way.

Si (like in si-ster) -ril
Thank you!!! He’s so adamant it’s the other pronunciation. The poll results are also annoying lol

Loool if he’s Canadian he must know about the kids cartoon series ‘The Raccoons’ which was made in Canada - ask him how they pronounce Cyril in that 🤣 (Answer: the same correct way Brits do 😂)

Si(like sister)-rul. (UK. It was my dads uncles name)

Sir-ul

si-ril

Si-rull
Was my grandads name

I pronounce it like they do in the show archer lolll

Sah-real is my pronunciation 😅😅😅

that was the first thing I thought of, Cyril Sneer 😂

Both of your options aren’t the right. Which one are you saying “thank you” about? lol it’s a combo of those two.
Sea-ril. Which is how I read ‘s explanation too. Not sure how else you would read that as it’s literally the phonetic spelling 😂

I think the first few replies are saying a short “si” sound like sister rather than saying “sea”.
yeh I get that, but there is no other way of phonetically spelling it without an explanation. As you said in your comment ‘si’ needed to be followed by an explanation from you that it’s the short sound as it could be pronounce ‘sigh’ as it is in the word sigh. Hope that makes sense

I believe Andi is just suggesting that ‘sea’ has a long ‘e’ sound rather than a short ‘I’ sound so it isn’t how Cyril is pronounced.
thanks for your input. Let’s agree that the comments have solved my issue and move on now 🙃
