Cucumbers

Hey Mamas My baby will be 9m next week and we've been BLW and purees/mashed foods which has been going well - hes such a foodie. I'm a little anxious about the BLW parts but getting better as I can see how much my baby enjoys feeding himself. I see that cucumbers can be given from 6m so the other day I tried it with him although I was nervous as it's not exactly the softest food. The thing is my baby has 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth which is amazing but he can literally take big bites and I was worried about him biting too much of the stick of cucumber I gave him...which is exactly what happened lol. He took a bite and then a second later he looked at me in panic as he must have tried to swallow it. I pulled him out of his high chair and slapped his back and it came out. He was absolutely fine but I just had this fear that would happen. I'm scared to give it to him again. How are they meant to eat it when it's so hard and can bite big chunks?

Thank you! Ok I see! So the slices are better for 9m as they won't then be able to bite big chunks! Those smaller pieces are ok?

9 months I go for slices or bite sized pieces for everything now as they tend to shove it all in lol

@Lulu with bite sized pieces aren't they small enough to get stuck in the throat or are the pieces big enough for them to chew on

With cucumber / banana things that can be sliced I do the thin slices. But everything else i do bite sized, as long as it’s soft enough for him to chew a bit. I wouldn’t give tough or hard food like beef, in bite sized. Just soft-ish things like bread, cheese etc. Chicken I do thin slices of shredded chicken. My baby really good at chewing though. So just soft foods that he can chew in bite sized. It’s so scary tho! I get it x
